Review of 42nd Street (1933) by Bob W — 19 Feb 2008
Twould seem there are many other musicals with a similar rags to riches story that borrow from this classic. Ruby Keeler is absolutely adorable. The movie really picks up after the "star" breaks her ankle.
It's hard not to notice Ginger Rogers in one of her first roles as well (Anytime Annie no less--is this a James Bond film?). Yes, the very same Ms. Rogers that dazzled us for years with Fred Astaire.
Witty banter such as the interruption when the boss says, "Why I have half a mind..." I'm not sure he had even that!
