Review of 42nd Street (1933) by Matthew D — 02 Jul 2013
The essential backstage musical, 42nd Street, even though its eighty years old, still compels with its wonderfully witty script and slightly over the top but still great acting. Ruby Keeler's film debut is ever so slightly annoying, teetering on an thin line between camp and truly mediocre.
But the score, refreshingly stuck-in-the-headie type music, does entertain.
