Review of 4192: The Crowning of the Hit King (2010) by Aaron S — 24 Feb 2011
Nicely done documentary and a must-see for ALL baseball fans. This movie is a great precursor to Spring and will really get you fired up for Baseball. Pete Rose was a player unlike anyone before, and we'll never see another one. He didn't even look like a Baseball player, but his work ethic was unmatched.
This sports doc doesn't dovetail into his post-baseball career and gambling that ultimately resulted in his banning from the game he loved so much. But this ends up being a good thing. It wouldn't match up very well and would distract from the record-setting theme of the film. Very informative, and a very shining portrayal of a significant and deserving sports superstar.
