Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) by Kapil D — 21 Mar 2009
I'm perplexed at how deep the emotions run in this hauntingly disturbing movie set in Romania under communist times. It truly reflects true value and loyalty of friendship in its extreme circumstances.
Otilia, played by Anamaria Marinca has got to be one of the most trustworthy and sacrificial character I've seen being portrayed in recent times. The movie is about Gabita's secrets and her stupidity (played superbly by Laura Vasiliu), but the story runs in-depth about trust, faithfulness, dependability, and speaks volume of what is right and wrong even in its unspoken duration of the film.
The performances are amazingly authentic and direction is uncompromising. If you do not appreciate lengthy, slow-moving scenes with people having blank-stares and walking around aimlessly, this is not a movie for you to watch.
It takes patience because it is detailed and goes deeper into characters' mindset.
