Review of 4 Little Girls (1997) by Matthew P — 07 Dec 2007
Sad documentary. I felt like maybe it was trying to cram too much into a film and left little room for imagination. Its the story of four little girls who were killed when their church was bombed in Birmingham on Sept.
15, 1963. The film provided backstory on the lives of the four girls, while also trying to provide information on the racial struggles of Birmingham and the civil rights movement. Although the two go hand in hand, I felt the film would have been more effective if it had focused primarily on the case of the bombing and the victims.
But overall, it was compelling and emotional.
