Review of Venom (2018) by Matthew P — 07 Oct 2018
It may have not been what people wanted (spider-man) but I can tell you what it is not. Boring. It takes a lot of time to establish characters in the beginning but the buildup pays off once Venom comes in to play.
Hardy's Eddy Brock came off less like the comic Eddy and more like Always Sunny's Charlie Kelly which makes for some funny moments when Eddy tries to cope with Venom's sudden emergence into Eddy's mind.
I would give it a five if it had done two things different. One, the goals of the symbiotes were kinda out of character for the source material. Two, the damn shitty hook from Eminem's Venom.. They paid money for that.
