What it lacks in subtlety, 300 more than makes up in brutality and sheer awesomeness. Zack Snyder is a great visual director, and there's an undeniable elegance to the film's stylized violence.
Add a strong performance from Gerard Butler, an epic score, and many unforgettable quotes, and you have a simple-minded, but exhilarating film about honor, victory, and courage.
