Review of 300 (2007) by Ben B — 28 Jul 2014
Zack Snyder continues to establish himself as a visual director with no ability to construct an interesting story. Yes, '300' is bloody and the slow motion shots are sometimes entertaining, but when you have almost two hours of film, it gets old pretty fast.
Gerard Butler as Leonidas is probably the meathead that Snyder wanted, but he certainly is not a character you can get behind. Butler's charisma and commitment is not enough to overcome the lame events around him.
Still, most viewers will find some entertainment in this action hack and slash flick.
