Review of 3 Women (1977) by Ryan M — 10 Jan 2009
Great movie about identity and soul stealing. Shelley Duvall is so good. Her coming down the stairs in the yellow jumpsuit makes me howl every time I see it. Like genius satire - it's high art at it's best.
Shelley striking a pose with every step trying the stir up the looks of the men, one in particular, Tom, who always forces a cough. Millie makes it down to her favorite lounge chair a flips her new Cosmo, as all hip 70's single women would do.
She's not really for herslef, There is no self. She's searching, pleading with anyone 'Please acknowledge me', every move is a presentation of what's normal and sane and desirable.
Hysterical. It's painful lyrical impressionistic drama.
