Review of 3-Iron (2004) by Liviu S — 25 Jan 2008
This is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen, a definite must see for any true movie lover. If M. Night Shyamalan had the soul of a poet he MIGHT make movies this good; at least, he wouldn't be the hack he turned out to be.
3-Iron is a zen meditation on the connections we make with others and the ways people can affect you without you even being ware of them. The film is also a pure cinematic confection. A movie with with almost no dialogue and little action yet is impossible to turn away from for even a second.
This is the first Kim Ki-duk film I have seen, but I plan to see all I can. There is no other filmmaker working today who is as original, smart, poetic, yet accessible.
