Review of 28 Weeks Later (2007) by Kieran F — 06 May 2014
Still good but...I thought the film wasn't as enjoyable or "Breath of Fresh Air" as the first was. This is still good but it takes the film WAY longer to get started and honestly the formula is so close to the first it's hard to find any surprises. But on the plus Side I thought the opening was WAY tenser then the first and I also thought the characters where more fleshed out. Where as in the first they evolved quickly and never got really fleshed out this one they evolve slower and it's easier to feel sorry for them. I especially liked Reiner's character who was nicely thrown in(even if he was thrown in probably to help boost the film).
PLUS the best part? the film has WAY WAY More Zombies then the first one which was WHAT I WANTED TO SEE. The scenes with the zombies are honestly the best in the film. I mean from the scene where you see them sliced and diced with the helicopter to the creepy subway scene it's great.
The only other major problems where that because the films so close to the previous one there's no real surprises. I mean everything that happens that's suppose to..surprise you and etc was used in the first so..it's hard to be surprised by what just happened. Also the Ending is..well..honestly the ending SUCKED. I mean it just..ENDS. There's no surprises no...denumonte. Nothing just goes to black screen. I was disappointed.
Bottom line? Still a good film but not as much of a fresh air type movement as the first. I mean where the first had scares and actually had scenes that made me on the edge of my seat this one on the other hand was generic and not as entertaining. Still good enough to warrant a few watches but..it'll def. Not go down with the same legacy as 28 days later will.
