Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by Elias H — 21 Jan 2013
Jim: And then I wake up today in hospital. I wake up, and I'm... I'm hallucinating or I'm...
Mark: What's your name?
Jim: Jim.
Mark: I'm Mark. This is Selena. OK, Jim. I've got some bad news.
"His fear began when he woke up alone. His terror began when he realised he wasn't.".
Now this is the definition of a zombie film. These zombies aren't dumb either. They are smart and they will sprint after you! Pretty terrifying right? What really sets 28 Days Later apart from other zombie movies though is the deserted atmosphere and whole gritty look of the movie plus the handheld cinematography. This is the most realistic interpretation of what a zombie apocalypse would look like. There is also some really good performances by Cilllian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, Naomie Harris, and Megan Burns. Danny Boyle has created the best modern horror movie in the 21st century. The only problem I had was with the bonkers final act of the movie and little nip picks before that. Other than that, horror movies do not get better than this.
