Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by Reggie N — 19 Dec 2018
There are some gaping plot holes in this film and the cinematography is painful to watch and annoying, but the script is entertaining. I liked the rage brought on by the instinct of a true man showcased at the end of the film, and the realistic look at how people react under pressure, or might react in an apocalyptic setting.
Generally the results aren't pretty. The shame that the Jim character feels when he goes to the cheeseburger place is understandable and his actions are very human, if not moral because of his intent.
It's an interesting look at a difficult subject. The film also goes over the whole "repopulate the world" thing with a very dark twist, as realistically that idea isn't very sound in the ideas of freewill, at least not here.
I would have loved this movie if not for the garbage directing choice to make every scene blinding and barely in focus.
