Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by Kia M — 01 Nov 2012
A British zombie/horror movie filmed with dim lighting and featuring set pieces draped in shadow, 28 days later uses these techniques to hide the truth that it isn't as scary as it tries to be. Oddly enough, as I was watching this movie, I wanted to see more zombie action than there was on screen, even if it is drenched in blood.
At least there are a few thrills to be had. The set up is exciting and the characters are believable in their near-hopeless situation, though there aren't enough details in the actual story to make it captivating.
And what little story there is dissolves in the last half of the film to become a basic fight for survival against both the infected and the allies they thought they had. If more effort had been put into this story, it could have been something more.
