Review of 28 Days Later (2002) by Lorenz R — 06 Oct 2014
An entertaining movie from start to finish, it manages to not only be intense, visceral and scary. But also satirical, and above all else beautiful. The contrast between the horror and the stark English landscapes, make the moments of serenity blissful yet tense, and the moments of adrenaline pumping fear gritty and realistic.
The final act is a perfect ending, acting as a gradual crescendo much like the music of Godspeed You! Black Emperor used in the scene where we are shown the deserted streets of London. It builds and builds until collapsing under its intensity.
