28 Days Later (2003) ???
Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary. Not your ordinary zombie story, this one captures the look, feel, and drama of a realistic, heavily grim city that's frighteningly convincing; there are no punches pulled, this movie is about as scary as anything Hollywood has ever done before. It only bogs down toward a disappointing third act where it ends with an action shoot-out. Sequel: 28 WEEKS LATER.
