Review of 28 Days (2000) by Walker — 04 Nov 2008
CONSENSUS: A fair performance by Bullock and an inspired bit of against type casting for Buscemi still doesn't make this aimless film rise above expectations. Though the rehab presentation is realistic to a degree, it still adds no depth to the characters.
The difficult subject matter is padded with superficial humor (most of which is not very funny) and standard romantic comedy tripe. Remains lightfooted in an attempt to please shallow audience members (which at times can work) and unfortunately becomes another example of lazy filmmaking and wasted potential.
MY GRADE: C.
