Review of 27 Dresses (2008) by Marina N — 13 Jun 2012
Clearly very high on the cuteness scale. Both Katherine Heigl and James Marsden play their characters well, so I can't really critisize acting here. It's rather the characters themselves and the story.
It's just too far away from reality to be truly good. Too many cliches are confirmed. I guess you can critize Hollywood romcoms for bring modern fairytales that that put wrong ideas into some young woman's head.
In the end, it's already kind of part of the genre. The movie has it's fun moments. Always great to see Judy Greer. In the category of Hollywood romcoms, it'd be a solid 8. Have to deduct some points for lack of realism (that it claims to have) and the over-the-top cheesy ending.
