Review of 25th Hour (2002) by Luca V — 18 Jun 2009
Used to be one of my favorite. I watched the first scene so many times that I m fed up with. This is about friendship, freedom. How greediness can damage life, love. What remains after all your errors.
The four actors (Norton, P. S. Hoffman, Dawson and B. Pepper) give their best. In the background a New York hurt by September 11. The dog is great too, but I don t think in real life a dog wags his tail when his owner is punched.
Why this is my favorite? Because it is very calm, I mean the characters are never too excited or too depressed, even if they are in trouble. Also you can see a nice photography, but never too bright, never too dark.
It s all well weighted. And very American. Without boast.
