Review of 25th Hour (2002) by Jack C — 08 Dec 2009
A moving story about a man and his quest to tie off loose ends before being incarcerated for drug charges. Norton gives us an a brilliant showing as Monty right from the dramatic opening scene where he decides to adopt Doyle and he allows us to feel what he is feeling through his dialogue.
All supporting actors in this movie did a fantastic job in adding to the plot and dialogue, especially Brian Cox and Philip Hoffman as father and friend.
The critical and most moving moment in the movie for me was the instance in the bathroom where Monty sees the "Fu** You" printed on the mirror and from there has a very powerful burst of emotion about his life and the city around him.
From that moment all the way until the climactic ending I was hooked in pure enjoyment. Another well played role from Edward Norton that once again proved he belongs in the A List.
