Review of 24 Hour Party People (2002) by Richard H — 03 Dec 2007
Its been a while since I last watched this movie. I have to say that it is as good as I remember it. There is plenty of entertainment all the way through and Steve Coogan's comedy timing and delivery is perfect.
Depending on your musical tastes the soundtrack could be described as a bit hit and miss (I quite like the Joy Division stuff but was never a Happy Mondays fan). How much of the movie is fact and fiction, I don't know (I'd like to think more fact that fiction).
This is possibly a movie that can be more appreciated by the more mature audience, possibly? Looking back I now wish I had visited the Hacienda Club, however in hindsight I also may have regretted that.
If you like your comedy on the darker side and have an appreciation for the Manchester music scene, this may well be your cuppa tea, or even E tab (thats the one and only bad joke I will do!).
