Review of 24 Hour Party People (2002) by Raymond S — 24 Jun 2009
Instant classic. Chronicles journalist and Factory records founder Tony Wilson and his relationships with 3 geniuses of the music business (Ian Curtis, Martin Hammett, and Shaun Ryder). It takes place from the time of the rise of punk through rave and the fall of his club the Hacienda in Manchester.
Steve Coogan (of "Alan Partridge"), Sean Harris, and Andy Serkis are particularly brilliant. If you have a passing interest in punk or new wave, Joy Division, New Order, or the Happy Mondays you must see this.
