Review of 24 Hour Party People (2002) by Alex H — 06 Sep 2009
It is not often that I see a film on the first viewing and have been completely blown away, but this is definitely the case with "24 Hour Party People" and then some. I honestly can't think of a bad word to say about this highly original and entertaining film.
The film features a brilliant soundtrack, which isnt really suprising since the film is actually about music, and manages to seamlessly splice together real archive footage of some great bands with reconstructions of the events using actors. This is helped by the way the film is shot in such a way that each era looks like the footage is actually from that era itself.
I could keep raving on all day about the good stuff about this film. Steve Coogan manages to give the main character a hint of his signature Alan Partridge style, yet still manages to make the character seem real and genuine.
Thats all I'm going to say as I repeat, there is nothing bad at all about this film. Its funny, its sad, its entertaining. Its 24 Hour Party People, and you need to watch it!
