Review of 21 Grams (2003) by Jim T — 23 Jan 2012
Benicio del Toro is amazing, you can feel his hurt like Rourke in the Wrestler. All the actors were pretty good though. The movie starts off very confusing with multiple character leads and switching time-lines.
However, about half way through it or maybe a little sooner you start to catch on. It has a lot of themes about faith in this like some other Penn movies. Penn dies about five times throughout this film.
I think the movie 7 lbs rips off from this movie. I liked the plot, but was interested in learning more about the characters before the tragedy. It kind of left it up in the air at the end and felt a little like they didn't tie up the loose ends.
My fiance liked this film and he doesn't even like depressing dramatic movies like I do.
