Review of 2046 (2004) by Sara R — 26 Sep 2009
If you love Chinese movies, this is one to see, a writer that gets to dream of his extrapolated life, making him love a cyborg while he rides the 2046 wagon in a train, while he tries to match himself, have sex with multiple ladies throughout the film. A reference to how life is running in relation to love throughout the years, a dedicated thoughtful process is required to fully understand the movie, and is not of the automatic-entertainment type. A profound story, with elements for much reasoning.
And from GlennInWinnipeg@YouTube: 2046 is a novel, a train, a place (both a room and place), and a time. There are two stories, the one with Zhang Ziyi is in the middle and very end; so if you pull that out, it makes the other plot easier to follow. All about how focusing on a past "love" anchors your emotions to the past so mess up future possibilities due to anchoring to the unchanging (and often idealized) past.
