Yes the movie is about love and the plot is quite convoluted but at the same time you're blown the beautiful visuals. Each shot is amazing thanks to Christopher Doyle. Ziyi Zhang gives a really good performance and outshines the rest.
I definitely think Kar Wai wong has done a splendid job.
