Review of 2010 (1984) by Jeremy R — 08 May 2008
No film has ever been haunted by it's prequel as much as '2010'. Which is unfortunate, because there actually is a better-than-average scifi story buried in the mess. Certainly there is none of the grace and artistic sensibilities of '2001', and many of the key roles have been assigned to people who aren't given enough character development to do anything but play themselves.
Still, there are some moments of greatness in both plot and visuals, although the 1980's-style paranoia tends to pull the film away from any clear direction.
