Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Campbell H — 14 May 2016
Mysterious, cerebral, and beautifully realized, this film still holds up even to this day despite nearing 50 years old. A grand way to be introduced to Strauss' "Blue Danube Waltz" and of course the enigmatic "Thus Spake Zarathustra" by the latter Strauss (not to mention the other haunting musical pieces, especially chorals).
With all that said, like much of science fiction, it's loaded with paganistic, evolutionary nonsense, where the author attempts to set himself apart from religion, all the while inventing another one.
With all that said, it remains one of my top ten favourite films of all time.
