Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Emerson B — 09 Aug 2013
This is a perfect film. If you are interested into any of the following: science, technology, life, space, the universe, the future, being a human, you need to see this film. This movie grand and spans the course of 100,000 years and is about evolution not revolution.
A film with minimal characters looks at every single person who has lived. Also sprach Zarathustra is the opening and closing sounds to humanity as it rings in a new dawn of civilization. I can't help but constantly think back to this film.
It is most of all an experience. It is hard to illustrate how awe inspiring the universe can be when we stopped dreaming about outer space but Kubrick has traversed the galaxy and brought back a piece of it for everyone still stick on this pale blue dot called earth.
