Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Chris D — 18 May 2014
Truly stunning...with the final act being possibly the most remarkable sets of moving pictures I've seen in my life. After having recently seen A Clockwork Orange (not to mention The Shinning and Eyes Wide Shut) it's fairly safe to say this is Kubrick's most memorizing work.
It's a testament to the absolute artistic destitution of the 60s (or maybe just to the profound lack of curiosity of the movie-going public) that this film wasn't enormously successful at release time.
Symphonic magic.
