Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Chiek E — 19 Oct 2015
Accompanied by Strauss´ beautiful waltz, mind bending visual and sound effects, Kubrick and Clarke took us on an amazing symphonic journey through time and space. From his version of dawn of time where earth was first populated by apes only and a black marble monolith to the space age of the 21st century.
In the second half of film, we witnessed a super humanoid computer on a spacecraft hurtling towards Jupiter turned rouge on 2 waking and 3 hibernating astronauts with grievous consequences. The film ended with the image of a giant late term foetus filling the universe only to remind us to treasure all lives including those unborn because life is the greatest miracle in the universe.
