Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Lu B — 10 Jan 2019
I appreciate Kubrick's commitment to abstraction and his willingness to explore the big questions. But the film felt too often like a screensaver set to Debussy. Some viewers undoubtedly will find the imagery hypnotic--even fifty years on.
I kept checking the clock. That's not so much a critique of Kubrick's vision as it is of the slow and sparse plot. Perfect stoner movie I suspect.
