Review of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Pat W — 29 Nov 2014
Still looks better than 99% of Hollywood films. There are so many great passages here, but I think my favorite is the first few minutes of the Jupiter mission where the astronaut is running in the space station and HAL is introduced.
In this section Kubrick perfectly predicted a future where technology is our master with the well selected Adagio music helping to underscore a feeling of unease and inadequacy. Some people consider this movie too slow and boring for modern audiences.
I say they can have their Transformers movies. I'll take this.
