Review of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) by Blais E — 30 Sep 2010
A great (for its time) sci-fi action thriller led by no less than Kirk Douglas and James Mason (Capt. Nemo) and a rather young looking Peter Lorre (of Casablanca and Maltese Falcon fame).
For its time, truely realistic special effects capture Jules Verne classic novel of the deep sea. The squid was thought sci-fi at the time, but now we know squid can get pretty big!
The best version for my money, I bought it on vhs and glad I did. Worthy of watching more than once, the test of a good film. Douglas is his classic self as is Mason.
