Review of 20 Feet from Stardom (2013) by Nadine S — 04 Jan 2014
This film is just fantastic. It shows the supreme & integral quotient of the background singer to the pop & rock and roll machine over the decades and how it is seemingly an almost thankless role.
The film highlights some of the greatest voices that for the masses are not recognized visually but sonically are inimitable. The title captures what the film is about - how the chasm between back up singer and lead vocal/star is one of the greatest divides in the modern music industry and it is most times and endless journey that will overcome even the most talented of singers for those who want the spotlight.
Definitely a film to check out.
