Review of 2 Days in the Valley (1996) by Ed Fucking H — 28 Mar 2011
Another one of them intertwining ensemble drama pieces, where peoples lives collide in ways that rarley actually happen in real life. Some pretty good performances. Danny Aiello being the stand out. Eric Stoltz always does a good job.
Jeff Daniels was pretty good. An early performance from Charlize Theron (you get to see her boobs in this (so what, like it's anything we havent seen before anyways.)) That landlord dude from Mike Leighs Naked (this guy plays an asshole like no one else!) Just to name a few.
In short this movie was pretty good, and it is under seen as I think a lot of similar movies are praised and have done a worse job with this style (Crash anyone?) But the fact remains that I really don't ever need to see a movie like this ever again.
If I saw this when it first came out in 96 it might've seemed more fresh, but in 2011 I'm pretty burnt out with this style. Really trying to not bash this too badly as it was really well paced and enjoyable for the most part, sometimes even funny.
If you like these sort of films you'll probably love this, I just can't deal with this style anymore. I should note once more that I'm not reviewing this film negatively, it does what it does well, I'm just sick of the style.
I encourage people to see this for themselves and make up their own mind as it really is well done.
