Review of 17 Again (2009) by Luke T — 30 Sep 2016
Burr Steer directs this teen comedy starring Matthew Perry as a disillusioned man who is transformed back into his 17-year-old self (Zac Efron) when he wishes he could have another shot at life.
Perry is not on screen for much of the movie, so all eyes are on Efron here, and his performance is good, but it is not outstanding. I actually consider it to be the best performance in his career (and yes that even does include after High School Musical) because he suits the role well enjoying life at 17 Again.
When Perry is on the screen, he definitely makes the most of the time he has. But it is worth watching if you are a fan of Efron, and the result is a pleasant one - but only just, are there are enough laughs to keep the viewer going until the end. The script could have been written better though.
