Although the plot might seem somewhat ''haunted house/hotel" cliche, it is not. 1408 relies on the psychological trauma and suspense than recent slasher flicks do with their excessive violence and gore.
John Cusack gives a great performance as lead role as most Stephen King adaptations do.
