Review of 1408 (2007) by Sam L — 11 May 2013
It's perfect for what it is. It's ominous, perfectly paced, and waits to build tension before scaring the crap out of you. I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time, thinking "NO NO ONONONONONONO, NOPE NOPE NOPE." And that's what all horror movies should do. It even manages to be funny at times, the room is such a psychotic troll. But despite being funny, it never loses the feeling of dread and gravity, which is commendable. Good stuff.
I prefer the director's cut to the theatrical version. I think it's more fitting, the theatrical version is a bit more "Hollywood", which I guess should be expected.
