Review of 1408 (2007) by Keith C — 09 Apr 2012
Nicely done film. Tension is taut throughout the film. John Cusack's role as Mike Enslin is done very well. You truely wish to escape Room 1408 with Mr. Enslin. The film is much better than the latest Japenese remakes/ripoffs or the torture/hack/slash films recently released over the last 5 years.
Its done with respect to the classic Hitchcock-esque thrillers of yesteryear. The ending dragged a little but the end had a nice payoff. Its nice to see a flim among the "loud" summer blockbusters that truly engages you and sucks you into its world.
If you have been dissappointed in all the recent summer releases, this film will give you some hope that they still make decent films, not just hackneyed scripts with a merchandising brand stamped to it.
Go see it if you want some thrills and chills.
