"Black men make up 6.5% of the U.S. population, but make up 40.2% of the U.S. prison population.".

13th raises historical issues like slavery, lynchings, Jim Crow, the civil rights movement, and mixes them with current issues such as Trump's candidacy, black lives matter, and it's primary target: mass incarceration disproportionately leveled against people of color.

I watch this and I'm dumbfounded how so many people think this problem doesn't exist, or that it even is a problem.

I believe that it is both urgent and vital for everyone to watch this -- especially if you're white.

On a personal note: I have never cried so much watching a documentary.
