Review of 13 Tzameti (2006) by Sarah G — 03 Nov 2007
Amaizing flick! Like Polanski on PCP! I love the tension and suspense this film evokes. I bought this movie for only 3 dollars last week in a video store that was going out of business (destiny is a beautiful thing) The film was shot in black and white and it completely helps add to the sad and depressing lives of the people in this movie. The tension in that room when they're all watching the light bulb for the signal is great cinema and to me is on my top ten moments in dramatic moments in cinematic history. This movie is violent but easily could have been way more violent but didn't have too. The game these people play is so sick and gruesome that your imagination does the rest. The camera work and cinematography was beautiful and simple (my style & type) If I was a film school teacher I would show this movie to my students and tell them "This is how you get the audiences attention, you don't need Micheal Bay like explosions or Will Smith running in slow motion or any B.S like that. All you need is a simple story and a great plot. Add in some few but eye appealing shots and thats it!".
FAVORITE SCENE: The last shot in the film. Reminiscent of Truffaut's 400 Blows.
