I haven't seen a movie this good in a long time. Old fashion samurai slash fest. I love old samurai films so I really appreciate this movie. 13 Assassins a beautifully made remake of 1963 film of the same name.
It feels true to its roots and didn't try so hard to reinvent the genre. Beautifully filmed. Solid acting. Story is solid and simple, you don't need subtitles to know that these assassins are trying to kill someone, who is pure evil I have to say.
The fighting is amazing, the gore is tastefully done and there is 40 continuous minutes of hack and slash.
