I looked forward to seeing this one for a while. I really enjoy a good samurai movie, and this was a decent flick. However, the characters did not have a lot of depth, so you really don't care for them all that much.
The actions sequences are great--the second hour is one long, extravagant fight scene, but that scene also comes across a little kitschy and over the top at times. Overall, the end of 13 Assassins left me a shade disappointed.
Just was never as clever or precise as I thought it would/should be. Still enjoyable, though.
