Takashi Milke's samurai thriller benefits from a well-organzid and intriguing character arc that dominates the first hour before settling into a truly memorable and electric non-stop samurai bloodbath for the final act of the film, earning 13 Assassins as a film that earns comparisons with Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai.

The villain, Lord Narigatsu, plays as arguably one of the most sadisitc and convincing villains in contemprary cinema whle the directin of the film only goes to serve the respect and craftmanship that this fil has for the genre.

Violent, disturbing but utterly memorable, 13 Assassins could have benefitted by an extra member of the samurai clan surviving but ultimately, the ending only serves as a forgivable neccessity which displays accuracy and original structure in what is an enjoyable cinema experience.
