I felt like this movie was more a biopic than an actual story. Similarly to Daniel Day-Lewis' performance in Lincoln, we saw the life-defining moment, and a small, fast-paced moment of the character Hollywood wanted us to see.

The question I generally like to ask is this: what does a movie have that it can teach me? Morality? Difficulty? History? 12 Years A Slave definitely taught me about history, showed a bit of morality, and much much difficulty.

Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance, regardless of the movie itself, made it all the more convincing and interesting for me. A strong supporting cast represented the supporting characters of Solomon Northup's original story and life.

All in all, Twelve Years A Slave does accurately what few movies nowadays can: portray historical characters accurately and humanely - with all the life and emotion possible. A truly unique film worthy of being remembered for the ages.
