Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Maria G — 19 Aug 2014
Not having read the book, I assume it must be better, because though the story is compelling, the movie left me apathetic. We really don't know who the man was, or who he became upon his return. Essentially, we are left with just the realization of the atrocities committed by religious zealots, ruthless hypocrites and the savage beast white man.
Which US history and current political ideologues continue to refuse to address.
