Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Tristan M — 20 Oct 2014
Amazing film, so powerful and emotional. The racism is increadibly bad and really pisses you off at the old American ways. The beating, how forces they were to do things, the conditions they lives in, and the way people treated them was increadibly harsh, and it it really shows in the film.
The acting is amazing, the best in a while, and the characters are deep and well developed. The cinematography is really good, it is well filmed, the only problem is how sometimes a single shot of let's say Solomon hanging from the rope for example, and the same shot goes on for literally over a minute of his sruggeling.
It happens a few times, and although it really gets the message through, it's painfully long to watch, and yet drags on. But otherwise the movie was amazing, powerful, and simply did everything right.
