Review of 12 Rounds (2000) by Luke R — 31 Dec 2012
'12 Rounds', starring WWE Superstar - John Cena - is your standard action flick, but overall, it is slightly below average.
There is no doubting the action sequences were solid, and even the plot was okay if not a bit tedious at times, however I felt the movie was let down mostly by its two main actors - the aforementioned John Cena and the "bad guy", Aidan Gillen.
In fact, as wooden and "cardboard cut-out" as Cena is as an actor - Gillen's performance was possibly the worst of the two. Perhaps, I need to see more of Gillen's work to see what he is really about, but he came across just totally unbelievable in this role.
On the plus side, Brian White was impressive as Cena's off-sider, whilst Steve Harris (best known from 'The Practice' in my book) was good also.
This movie had its moments but was 15 minutes too long, however as a token action movie and nothing more, it serves its purpose.
