Review of 12 Angry Men (1957) by Wes M — 29 Jul 2012
"Wherever you run into it, prejudice always obscures the truth. I don't really know what the truth is. I don't suppose anybody will ever really know." Holy hell. Rarely will you see a courtroom drama of this caliber! Actually, about 93 of the 95 minutes take place in the Deliberation Room.
Featuring an all-star cast led by Henry Fonda, and spectacular film elements across the board, Sidney Lumet makes an explosive directorial debut. I love how they don't flat out tell you the case; you have to decipher the "facts" while the jury does.
The movie is also an excellent social commentary on human deduction, assumptions, and reasoning. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and can't wait to see another Lumet.
